Arlington question surprises candidates at risk
(Update at 8:50 p.m.) None of the three competitors on Jeopardy last night knew that Arlington is, in fact, a county.
The bottom row index of $ 1,000 under “American Superlatives” had the following response: “At 26 square miles, Arlington is the smallest range in the United States. Quiz participants remained silent until host Alex Trebek revealed the correct answer: “This is a county.”
The trio otherwise answered most of the questions during the round.
24 tonight #Danger round – but two misses in the bottom row (“Pearle” instead of “LensCrafters”, and “city” instead of Arlington “County”).

None of #Danger tonight’s contestants knew that Arlington (VA) is the smallest county in the United States. This is what you get for only having Californians!

Although Arlington is a county, its compact geography and dense urban corridors make many outsiders believe it is a city. There are some, like Former County Board Member Jay Fisette, who say Arlington should take the plunge by changing its form of government and becoming a city under Virginia law.
