Tom Felton’s grandfather had a secret role in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
When it comes to actors who proudly carry the Harry Potter flag years after the film franchise ended, Tom Felton is unbeatable.
The Surrey-born actor who played Harry Potter’s nemesis Draco Malfoy in all eight films still happily shares memories of his shoot and interacts with fans on social media.
But did you know he’s not the only member of his family to appear in the movies?

You will have seen Tom’s maternal grandfather in the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, at one of the Hogwarts parties as a Hogwarts teacher.
Tom, 33, from Epsom, previously opened up about his grandfather’s appearance in a post on Instagram. In a separate scene, his grandfather, Nigel Anstey, appears as the same Hogwarts teacher watching a Quidditch match alongside student and Gryffindor commentator Lee Jordan.
The post has now amassed over 700,000 likes and over 3,000 comments.
In the caption, Tom wrote: “This is Lee Jordan … and my grandfather, my real grandfather (left) x.”
Tom said in a separate Instagram video, speaking of the same scene, “He’s my grandpa again! The guy with the beard.”
He added: “White beard! Huge beard right next to Lee Jordan. And here I am again. It’s a family affair, mental! Mental!”
Although he does appear in the movies, Tom’s grandfather is not actually an actor and the role he plays is a non-talking one. Instead, Nigel is a British geophysicist and researcher.
